It was a name-strong starting field that had gathered to compete in the 48 kilometer long race in Trollhättan. Alvar Myhlback, Petter Northug, Calle Halfvarsson and Edvin Anger were just a few of the skiers.
Broke the pole
The winner was 19-year-old Alvar Myhlback who placed himself nicely before the final climb and took home the victory ahead of the Frenchman Thomas Joly and the Norwegian Amund Hoel after an impressive sprint.
– It's always chaos at Alliansloppet so I tried to avoid trouble. But I didn't succeed with that since I broke the pole. I tried instead to just hang on and not put in any extra effort. Today we showed that we are the strongest team, says Myhlback.
Calle Halfvarsson finished in 17th place.
It's not good. But it's at least a step forward compared to how it's been this summer. I've been far behind in these competitions so I'm starting to get closer.
Won for the second year in a row
Emma Ribom, who won in 2021 and 2022, won Friday's sprint but did not participate in today's race.
With one kilometer left of the race, the Norwegian trio Magni Smedås, Astrid Øyre Slind and her twin sister Silje Øyre Slind broke away from the pack along with the Swedes Jenny Larsson and Hanna Lodin.
In the end, it was Magni Smedås who was the strongest and took home the victory for the second year in a row. Second was Hanna Lodin and third Jenny Larsson.
