Sunday's super-G still offered an American triumph as Vonn's 18-year-younger compatriot Lauren Macuga stole the show and took her first World Cup victory.
The 22-year-old was 68 hundredths of a second faster than Stephanie Venier, Austria. Italian Federica Brignone became third.
Vonn, who made a comeback just before Christmas, was 32 hundredths from a podium spot.
