Lycksele municipality will buy newly shot elks to serve in schools and within elderly care.

We think it's cool with really locally produced food, says the municipality's head of catering Klaus Dudenhöfer to Folkbladet Västerbotten.

He says that the idea is to utilize the entire animal.

Now we can serve some tougher cuts and other details that are fun to cook for our elderly.

The municipality's catering unit is now advertising on Lycksele's website for five elks to be received during weeks 36–39.

The elk hunt begins on September 1 in the northern parts of the country.
