The maternity ward at Lycksele hospital will be closed from May 12th to August 17th, reports P4 Västerbotten. The reason is staff shortage.
The acute gynecology department is open until Midsummer but will then be closed for four weeks.
Pregnant women who are due to give birth during this period will be referred to the maternity wards in Skellefteå and Umeå, which are approximately 15 miles away.
The maternity ward in Lycksele has had problems for a long time with getting stable staffing to be able to stay open all year round.
