In her debut on Wednesday (4-2 against SDE), Savannah Norcross had to settle for an assist. Away against bottom-of-the-table Leksand on Friday evening, things really took off for the 24-year-old American, who joined Luleå at the beginning of December.
It feels fantastic. I'm so happy it worked out today, said Norcross to TV4 Play after the second period, and took the opportunity to praise teammates Petra Nieminen and Emma Nordin.
Petra and Emma are world-class players, it's so easy to play with them. I hope to be able to make them even better for the rest of the season, just like they make me better all the time.
After two periods, Luleå were already leading 6-0 and Norcross had scored a goal and three assists herself.
In the final period, Nieminen quickly extended the lead to 7-0 – the Finn's second goal of the match and her 200th overall in SDHL – and Luleå eventually won 9-0. When Emma Nordin slammed in the match's final goal, her third of the evening, Norcross was credited with another assist.
Luleå tops the SDHL with 54 points, four ahead of Modo. Leksand is last on 12 points, ten behind second-to-last HV71.
