The women's shelter Iris will not be present at the festival this weekend, Kulturnytt reports. This follows the announcement that Roc Boyz would be taking part. The band has shown an animated film in which the band members beat up a Sami person during a gig at Brännbollsyran in Umeå.

According to Gustav Petterson, project manager for Splash, the group is the most popular act at the festival and will be allowed to perform.

"Because the band has not commented on the incident, we believe that they are promoting violence against the Sami," Anna-Maria Hedberg, chairwoman of Iris, told Kulturnytt.

Roc Boyz has also previously drawn attention in Norway after the group sabotaged a Sami protest in Oslo in 2023.
