Åberg is at -6 overall and tied for sixth place after Saturday's round of 67. The 26-year-old had four birdies and one bogey on Saturday and climbed ten places.

It was tough, the wind changed direction, which changed some of the holes, but I thought we did well. Still have a bit more to learn, but absolutely happy with how I played and how I took it and kept grinding. Hit good shots, definitely, and above all happy with the finish too, Åberg said in Viaplay's broadcast.

“Good friends”

Åberg played the third round with, among others, Irishman Shane Lowry.

I get on well with Shane, we are good friends. He is a super nice guy and is very popular here in the UK. Great atmosphere to play in and a great day, Åberg said.

The final round awaits on Sunday.

I'm looking forward to it. It's a fantastically fun competition to play in. The atmosphere is really cool, a lot of Swedes here so you really feel the support. It's very cool to play golf in, and playing good golf is also very fun. Hopefully we can come out hot tomorrow and put some pressure on the leaders and see what happens.

Tied the record

Sam Burns is in the lead at ten under par, closely followed by Kim Si Woo and Ryan Fox at -8.

Fox made a huge leap when he shot a 62 on Saturday, becoming the third player in two days to tie the record for the lowest round in a major. A total of eight players in history have now shot eight under par in a round in a major.

Svensson last

While Åberg was climbing, fellow countryman Jesper Svensson sank like a stone after the third round. Svensson made four birdies, but three double bogeys and five bogeys mean +7 for the day, and the Swede is now last of all in the competition.

Things went a little better for Alex Norén, who after three birdies and two bogeys is -1 and climbing the standings.

The headliner for the weekend, Bryson DeChambeau, went one under par in the third round, and after his two penalty strokes on Friday has a total of -6.
