Åberg started the tour final at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta with four birdies on the first six holes.
On the following eleven holes, there was a bogey and all par. But on hole 18, Åberg's fifth birdie of the day came, which gave –4 total. Par on the course is 70.
The frustration overflowed a bit today with the putts, I understand that you're not going to make all of them, but I got a little annoyed. Would have liked to have one or two or three or four more putts that could have gone in, says Åberg.
The Swede is in eighth place among the 30 players participating in the tour final. American Russell Henley is in sole lead on nine under par.
Probably the best I've ever delivered, says Henley after his round.
Unlike previous years, the PGA ranking – where Åberg is in 14th place – will not affect the result of the tour final. All players start on par, and the one who plays the best during the four rounds of the competition wins.
In addition to the honor, the winner takes home ten million dollars, which corresponds to approximately 96 million kronor.
