A new parliamentary investigation shows that there were major shortcomings in the world-famous Paris museum's handling of security even before the robbery, Le Monde writes.
The investigation, led by French members of parliament, criticizes the museum management for being in denial about the risks. The report says the museum did not take sufficient responsibility to prevent robberies of this kind.
In October, four men carried out a spectacular heist at the art museum in just a few minutes. They stole jewellery worth nearly a billion kronor in a robbery that shocked all of France.
Several people have been charged in connection with the robbery, but apart from a valuable crown, the robbers' loot has not been recovered.
