The match started off right for the 29-year-old Swede, who scored the first goal in the fifth minute. After a few dramatic minutes with multiple goals from both teams, Nylander also ensured that Toronto ended the first period with a 3-2 lead.
That was also where Nylander's scoring efforts ended. Three straight goals from Carolina decided the match and the away team won for the fourth time in a row this season.
"It could be due to immaturity, unwillingness to play easy," Toronto coach Craig Berube said, according to nhl.com after the loss.
"We didn't stop anyone tonight, we didn't win any battles tonight. It's the second game in a row," he continues.
From the Carolinas there were all the more cheerful tones.
"We knew we played pretty well. We had a lot of chances," coach Rod Brind'Amour told nhl.com.
