Nothing seems to be able to stop the Premier League leader for the time being. West Ham held out for half an hour, then it was all over. Luis Díaz, Cody Gakpo, and Mohamed Salah made sure it was settled, 3–0 to Liverpool, already at halftime.
Two more goals in the second half, through Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota, gave an impressive 5–0 finish.
Despite Liverpool having a game in hand over several of the top contenders, they top the league by a full eight points ahead of Nottingham, the sensation team that lies second.
Haaland's goal drought over
Down to the reigning champions Manchester City, who have played one more match than Liverpool, it's a full 14 points.
So City finally got to celebrate a win again on Sunday. 2–0 away against Leicester was the team's only second three-pointer in the Premier League since the end of October.
No wonder Erling Braut Haaland flashed a broad smile when he headed in the crucial 2–0 goal in the 74th minute of Saturday's away match against Leicester. With the goal, the Norwegian attacking star also broke a four-match goal drought.
Goalkeeper blunder
The fine assist was provided by Savinho. The 20-year-old Brazilian was City's big match hero after also scoring the lead goal in the first half.
In the 21st minute, Savinho stayed ahead and thundered in 1–0 after Leicester goalkeeper Jakub Stolarczyk dropped a questionable rebound from a long shot by Phil Foden.
Manchester City didn't put on a dazzling display of football art, however. During the second half, the team was under pressure for long periods, and Leicester had several chances to equalize before Haaland put in the mercy shot with a quarter of an hour left to play.
