LKAB's mines in Kiruna and Malmberget have been urgently closed, reports NSD.

We are currently having problems with the mobile network, are troubleshooting it, and are now awaiting more information, says Emilia Salmela, communications officer at LKAB, to the newspaper.

We have closed the mines as a precautionary measure and are gathering all employees who are currently underground in meeting rooms, says Emilia Salmela, communications officer at LKAB, to NSD.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 1.1 occurred in Kiruna on Sunday night, according to LKAB. But it is unclear whether it has anything to do with the shutdown.

The seismic event that occurred last night was located in the hanging wall, where we have no infrastructure nearby, Emilia Salmela tells NSD.
