The state-owned mining company has agreed with Stegra, which is building a steel mill in Boden, to begin trial deliveries with the ambition of becoming a supplier, LKAB told Sveriges Radio.
The possibility of more deliveries has increased because, among other things, there has been less rail traffic due to fewer night trains to and from northern Sweden. In addition, major customer SSAB needs fewer iron ore pellets due to its conversion.
So far, Stegra has had to buy most of its iron ore from other countries, despite Sweden exporting large quantities.
