The Left Party is doing strongly in many areas that are classified as particularly vulnerable by the police.
Not least in the areas around Järvafältet in northwest Stockholm, where the Social Democrats have traditionally been the largest party.
The fact that V has invested in an intensive door-knocking campaign and local presence here may have helped. But Ilyas Hassan, who sits on V's party board, is also described locally as a contributing factor to the success.
In Järva they talk about an Ilyas effect, but I would say it's about us having good politics, he says himself when TT meets him in Husby, where he grew up.
Hadn't passed the barrier
If large parts of Tensta, Rinkeby and Husby were allowed to decide, the Left Party would have its own majority in the Riksdag.
C, MP, L and KD, however, would not pass the barrier if the residents around Järvafältet were allowed to decide. The last election also attracted many voters here, but has since folded.
In the Rinkebysvängen S electoral district, where Nyans received 21.5 percent in the last election, the Left Party now receives over 60 percent of the votes.
Ilyas Hassan has campaigned extensively in the area and, for example, was with party leader Nooshi Dadgostar when she voted early in Rinkeby.
In recent years, he has also traveled around the country's marginalized areas on behalf of the Left Party, talking to people to find out what they are missing from politics and how voter turnout could increase.
Last year, the work resulted in the report “The Suburbs of the Future.” It proposed, among other things, smaller school classes and reduced employer contributions for entrepreneurs operating in the areas.
“Tired of Tidö”
He says that wherever he has gone, people have said they are “tired of the Tidö gang.”
They have spent more time polarizing and blaming social problems on people living in areas like these than doing anything about them, he claims.
But he also says that those he has met are tired of the Social Democrats.
People are tired of S governments making things worse for ordinary people. They want something new and many think the Left Party stands for that.
It is popular to vote for the Left Party, while the Social Democrats are passé here, he says.
