The Left Party's leader Nooshi Dadgostar is not worried about division in the party after the recent turmoil. From our side, it's closed cases, she says.

The Left Party has been struggling with internal conflicts. A couple of weeks ago, the members of parliament Lorena Delgado Varas and Daniel Riazat left the party and became independents. This happened after the Left Party initiated expulsion proceedings against them.

In connection with their departure, they both directed sharp criticism at the party and its leader Nooshi Dadgostar.

It has become harder, colder and more systematic. Organizationally, it has become a Stalinist organization, said Delgado Varas, and accused the Left Party of "splitting" the movement.

Shortly thereafter, they started the alternative "Framtidens Vänster" (The Left of the Future).

Not worried

Nooshi Dadgostar is now commenting on the turmoil for the first time. According to her, the party is doing "fantastically well", and she is not afraid of losing votes to the defectors.

I am confident that the Left Party is now working forward together, says Dadgostar.

No risk of division?

No.

She returns several times to the fact that the expulsion proceedings are "closed".

I think it could have been resolved in a different way. But now it is what it is and it is actually closed cases from our side.

She would rather talk about what the Left Party wants to achieve in the future.

We are fully focused on changing the government next year, we feel strong support for it.

Many twists

The twists and turns surrounding Delgado Varas and Riazat have been many, where the former has, among other things, been accused by the party of having failed in her judgment on repeated occasions and been urged to leave her political assignments. Riazat has been accused of acting inappropriately and, according to himself, the party wanted to expel him as early as 2023.
