Over 60 people have been killed in landslides and floods in India and Nepal. Several are missing after the bad weather. On Mount Everest, over 1,000 people have been trapped in snowstorms.

A Nepalese family of six was sleeping when the landslide crushed their house, according to local authorities. All were killed.

In total, over a hundred people in Nepal have been evacuated due to the weather conditions.

On Mount Everest, over 1,000 people have been stranded in a snowstorm that has made the roads up to the camp at 4,900 meters altitude impassable, reports the news agency Reuters.

In the neighboring Darjeeling in India, at least 20 more people have been killed in landslides. Several areas are reported to have been cut off from the outside world when heavy rainfall has destroyed roads.

Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal is located just over two miles east of the border with Nepal.

The monsoon season in the area usually lasts until the end of September and results in many deaths every year.
