The Liberals believe a safeguard should be urgently added to the legislation to stop the so-called teenage expulsions.

"The Liberals and I think we need to have a valve to ensure that people who contribute and belong can be part of society," says L's party leader Simona Mohamsson.

A valve would mean an opportunity to stay for people who lose their residence permit when they turn 18, while their families remain in Sweden.

Mohamsson said on Sunday that L wants to review the legislation, something that is already under way. Now she is going a step further and will push within the government to quickly get a valve in place.

It is clear that there is an urgency to ensure that people who today are an important part of society and of their workplaces are not punished, but we have to do this in an orderly manner.
