The former national team midfielder Kristoffer Olsson, 30, has not played since he was affected by several blood clots in the brain and was put into a coma in February 2024.
The Swede has since left his Danish club Midtjylland and was presented earlier in July by his parent club Sleipner in division 2.
Now I'm here, stronger and clearer than ever. Now I'm really home, he said then in a video clip on the club's Instagram.
In the interview with La Dernière Heure, he also comments on last year's critical illness, according to Aftonbladet.
When my dad saw that I could move a finger, he understood that I wouldn't die, says Olsson, who made his last match in December 2023 to the newspaper.
Kristoffer Olsson has previously played for, among others, Arsenal, Anderlecht, and AIK. He has also made 47 international matches for Sweden.
The training match between Sleipner and Österåker is played at Parken in Norrköping at lunchtime on Saturday.
