"It's incredibly worrying. It's a sign in completely the wrong direction," says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) on his way into the meeting.
"We deeply regret that the US is making such an agreement (on the import of Russian energy) that is fundamentally not about Ukraine at all, but about American policy," says Kristersson.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend the EU summit on Friday to report on the situation.
Both the risks involved in increasing Russian revenue and what information reaches the battlefield and how it affects Ukraine, says Kristersson.
Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, for his part, is extremely critical of the energy ceasefire that Trump said he had pushed through.
If Ukraine stops attacking Russian energy infrastructure while Russia is free to attack Ukrainian energy infrastructure, this war will only collapse, Nausėda warns in Brussels.
