This year's edition of the People and Defense conference in Sälen is being held at the same time as the war in Ukraine is about to enter its fifth year, the US has captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, and President Donald Trump is talking about taking over Greenland.
Kristersson notes that the rules-based world order is more threatened than in many decades.
"It is dangerous in several ways. The risk of major conflicts increases, but also the risk that smaller nations will be sacrificed along the way. For a country like Sweden, this is particularly serious," Kristersson says.
He reiterates Swedish support for Denmark and Greenland. He also points out that Denmark has been a very loyal ally to the US, something that should lead to gratitude and not threats.
In Afghanistan and Iraq, over 50 Danish soldiers have paid the ultimate price for that loyalty, Kristersson says.
In a world that continues to be shaken, it is important for Sweden to prepare itself, Kristersson believes.
"Take it seriously, but don't panic. We shouldn't be afraid, but we should be prepared," Kristersson says.
