When asked whether he thought the incident was serious, Barrot replied that it has been shown that drones, regardless of where they come from, cannot threaten the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle.
"I want to pay tribute to the security that Swedish authorities provided, which enabled an effective response," he says.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) says that the incident "was serious, but not unexpected."
"It is likely a Russian drone. We are now investigating it in more detail, but there is a lot of evidence to suggest that it is," he told journalists during a visit to the aircraft carrier in Malmö Harbour.
Kristersson does not believe it was a coincidence that the incident occurred in connection with the ship's visit.
The most important thing is that you discover such things and speak clearly about them, but it is a Russian action that we recognize from other places.
A technical analysis is currently underway, according to Kristersson.
The drone was disrupted by the Swedish Navy on Wednesday, approximately 13 kilometers from the aircraft carrier.
