Sweden has come to terms with serious crime and gang crime. That is Kristersson's message from his summer speech in Ugglas Park in his hometown of Strängnäs.
Now the party wants to move forward with new protective legislation for women who are at risk of deadly violence, if the Tidö parties win a majority in the parliamentary elections.
We want to give the police a toolbox to better protect women, says Kristersson.
Everyday crimes in focus
According to the prime minister, the past term of office has been about tackling gang crime. Now everyday crime, mass crimes such as theft and fraud, and men's violence against women will be in focus.
That is the really big criminal policy task ahead. And then stopping the men who commit the crimes before they are committed would of course be much better, says Kristersson without going into how it should be done, but points out that it should be similar to the police's methods against gang crime.
Three points for changes
He puts forward three proposals:
The police should be able to warn potential crime victims and relatives about dangerous men more often, and in serious cases this should be an obligation.
The second is that the police should be able to wiretap phones and read messages to prevent men's deadly violence against women.
We know it works because we have used the methods against criminal gangs, says Kristersson.
And finally, dangerous men should be able to be taken into compulsory custody when the risk of violence is clear.
'Too hard', some will certainly say. 'Too fast', others will say. 'Protect women from new crimes' we say. All girls and women should know whose side society is on. It is on theirs. Not the perpetrator's, says Kristersson.
