He expects the EU summit on Thursday to be characterized by discussions about what the US President Donald Trump and Russia's President Vladimir Putin have agreed on.
The whole world is quite tense about what can happen now, says Kristersson in the Riksdag's EU Committee.
He repeats that how the war eventually ends will affect security in Europe for at least a generation ahead.
"No signs"
The US and Ukraine have agreed on the terms for a 30-day ceasefire, which, according to Kristersson, "at best leads to a decent and perhaps even good peace agreement".
But if it becomes so "we still know nothing at all, not even if Russia wants to participate", says Kristersson and adds:
So far, we have not seen any signs of it at all.
Kristersson thinks it is obvious that Putin does not care about how many lives are sacrificed in attempts to subdue Ukraine before "some kind of peace negotiations".
The latest attacks, primarily against civilians, against infrastructure, are very, very serious. It creates enormous suffering, says the Prime Minister.
"Many risks"
Kristersson does not want to guess what Trump's and Putin's conversation can lead to.
There are so many risks in this, there are a few possibilities as well.
After the EU Committee's meeting, Kristersson, for example, points out that we do not know if the talks between Trump and Putin will also deal with the European security order.
It is clear that there are great risks in this, he says to TT.
Kristersson urges in the EU Committee all countries to increase and expedite their military support to Ukraine. He also states that Sweden is preparing a new ambitious support package.
Moreover, the government wants to see that the international pressure on Russia is maintained and preferably strengthened.
It would be good to take further the Russian frozen assets and use the capital as well, not just the yield, says Kristersson in the EU Committee.
Many EU countries are still opposed, large and small.
