The Council for Women's Peace includes ministers, as well as the National Police Commissioner, the Attorney General and other directors-general. Its task will be to prevent and combat several types of violence against women, such as intimate partner violence, rape and honour-related violence.
The Council will ensure that measures taken have an effect and develop new measures to realize a zero vision for deadly violence against women.
"This is a unique gathering of forces to stop deadly violence against women," Kristersson says.
He estimates that it will take 5 to 10 years to create a completely new situation for women in Sweden.
Experts and organizations will be involved in the council's work in various ways.
