Kosovare Asllani has not yet given any indication of whether she intends to continue playing for the national football team during the autumn and winter when the Nations League is to be decided and the qualifying rounds for the World Championship in Brazil 2027 begin.
The 36-year-old is, however, in national team form. The midfielder showed this by scoring the only goal when London City defeated the capital's rival West Ham 1–0 at home. The newcomer thus took their third win in six rounds and is in fifth place in the English league, the Super League.
Nasty injury
League leader Chelsea remains unbeaten. English national team midfielder Keira Walsh scored the only goal when Tottenham was defeated 1–0 in another London derby on Sunday afternoon. Nathalie Björn and Johanna Rytting Kaneryd played the entire match for Chelsea.
Stina Blackstenius came on for Arsenal in the home match against Brighton and was close to scoring. But instead, it was an own goal from Brighton that meant Arsenal took three points, also in a 1–0 match.
It also included a nasty incident when the visiting team's defender Maelys Mpomé was hit in the head and lay down in the 63rd minute of the match. The 22-year-old Frenchwoman was treated for several minutes and given oxygen, according to BBC.
Mpomé was carried out on a stretcher before the game could resume. It is unclear how seriously injured she is.
Tony Gustavsson's premiere squad
This summer, Sweden was eliminated from the European Championship playoffs in Switzerland in the quarterfinals by the future champion team England. Since then, it has been unclear whether team captain Kosovare Asllani will continue to focus on the national team.
An answer will come on Wednesday when new national team manager Tony Gustavsson selects the squad for the Nations League semifinal against Spain in a few weeks.
Sweden will play a double match for a place in the final and will start away in Málaga on October 24, with the return match in Gothenburg four days later.
