With the new payment card, customers get access to direct transfers and deposit services as well as Klarna's buy-now-pay-later alternative for purchases.

Klarna does not have a bank license in the USA, but collaborates with partner Web Bank, headquartered in Salt Lake City in the state of Utah.

Klarna has previously launched banking services based on digital wallets in large parts of Europe and in the USA.

There has also been a Klarna card for credit purchases, but now broadened its service offerings.

Klarna has applied for a stock exchange listing, but the introduction has been paused during the spring since the Trump administration's tariff shock has shaken the market and affected the demand for new shares.

The Stockholm-based fintech company Klarna, with co-founder and CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski, has also initiated cooperation regarding payments with the American retail giant Walmart and auction site Ebay in the USA.

An interim report in May showed that the company reached 100 million active consumers globally in April.
