Daniel Kindberg was convicted in the Court of Appeal of aggravated bribery. Now the former Östersunds FK chairman chooses to appeal to the Supreme Court.

The 58-year-old had the district court's sentence of two and a half years in prison reduced to one year and eight months in the Court of Appeal - but told Aftonbladet that the verdict was a "huge disappointment".

Now he is appealing to the Supreme Court, writes P4 Jämtland .

According to the radio channel, the appeal is that the charges are not sufficiently substantiated and that there was a gross formal error during the proceedings in the Court of Appeal.

Daniel Kindberg was charged with "requesting and then receiving improper benefits" from a supplier between 2014 and 2018, when he was CEO of the municipal housing company Östersundshem. This is alleged to have occurred when Kindberg sent 31 invoices from his own companies regarding consulting services to the supplier, who paid a total of SEK 5,545,000 to Kindberg's company.

Kindberg was chairman of Östersund from 2010-2018, when the club advanced from Division 2 to Allsvenskan and won the Swedish Cup in 2017.
