Former Östersunds FK chairman Daniel Kindberg was sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for economic crime in the Court of Appeal. Now the 58-year-old announces that he is traveling back to Ukraine to fight against Russia. I am home now, then I will go down to Ukraine again. I will do what is right for me there, he tells Aftonbladet.

The sentence from the district court was reduced from two and a half years in prison to one year and eight months, but Daniel Kindberg tells the newspaper that the verdict was a "huge disappointment."

"I received the news with dismay, it's a life change that I hadn't prepared for. It's tough, but the sun will rise tomorrow too," says Daniel Kindberg.

Earlier this fall, Svenska Dagbladet published a long report about Daniel Kindberg. The 58-year-old, who has worked in the Armed Forces for many years and holds the rank of lieutenant colonel, was then in Ukraine where he served in the country's army. Now Kindberg announces that he is returning to Ukraine.

"I will do what is right for me there. Then we will see when I get home, depending on whether there is an appeal or not and whether the verdict becomes final or not," he says.
