"Yes, yes! We did it, we did it!" Antonelli shouts on the Mercedes radio, Sky Sports reports.
The 19-year-old Mercedes driver started from pole position and led for almost the entire race, building a lead of many seconds over teammate George Russell, who couldn't do much about Antonelli's advantage because of his worn tires at the end.
When the Mercedes cars finally crossed the finish line, they were 5.5 seconds apart, making Kimi Antonelli the second-youngest Grand Prix winner of all time.
"I said yesterday that I really wanted to bring Italy back to the top and we did that today. I gave myself a bit of a heart attack towards the end with a worn tire, but it was a good race," he told Sky after the win.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were locked in a battle for third and fourth for a long time. Their Ferraris were so close at times that they almost collided before Hamilton accelerated and created some space. The Briton took his first podium finish in Ferrari colors.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen had another tough day on the track. On lap 46, the Dutchman suffered a technical problem and was forced to make a pit stop. This came after he had worked his way up to sixth place following a shaky start with tire problems.
