First, 101 authors, critics and literary experts had their say. Kerstin Ekman came out on top of that list.
Then 1,094 readers voted for their favorites, with the same result, at least in terms of first place. The justifications highlighted, among other things, Ekman's "deep knowledge of humanity and nature."
Otherwise, there were major differences between the experts' and readers' choices. Ten names on the readers' top 20 list were completely new. Second on the list, for example, is Lena Andersson, who was not among the experts' choices.
On the experts' list, 7 out of 20 were poets, but not a single poet made the readers' top 20.
