Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will sign a declaration of alliance and a strategic partnership, Tokayev said.

He describes the signing as the "most important point" during his visit to Moscow, he writes in the newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

Tokayev arrives in Moscow on Tuesday. His statement comes less than a week after he attended a summit in Washington, led by US President Donald Trump.

The document will confirm "an unprecedented level of trust and a common will," Tokayev writes.

The Kremlin has confirmed that Tokayev will meet with Putin on Tuesday afternoon.
