Table tennis star Anton Källberg has advanced to the world tour tournament in Frankfurt. Källberg, who was part of the Swedish team that took Olympic Games silver last summer, defeated Egyptian Omar Assar 3–0 in sets (11–9, 11–7, 11–3) in the first round of WTT Champions.
In the quarterfinals, however, it could be the toughest possible opponent. World number one Wang Chuqin awaits if the Chinese player defeats Japanese Shunsuke Togami in the first round on Monday.
Truls Möregårdh – Olympic Games silver medalist in both singles and team in Paris – faces Danish Jonathan Groth in the first round on Monday.
Mattias Falck, who received a wildcard to the tournament, faces Chinese world number two Lin Shidong on Tuesday.
