That is slightly fewer than last year, the Swedish Tax Agency said in a press release.

A total of 8.4 million Swedes will file their tax returns this year. If you want to receive a possible refund in April, you must approve your tax return by March 31.

"Remember to register your bank account for payment if you have not already done so," says Helena Karlsson, tax declaration expert at the Swedish Tax Agency, in the press release.

The last day to submit your tax return is May 4.
