The Philadelphia exhibit, which featured nine slaves owned by the first American president, George Washington, was taken down in January after Donald Trump ordered the removal of content that promoted “a harmful ideology,” according to the New York Times.
It was “an arbitrary and capricious” decision, said Cherelle Parker, mayor of Philadelphia, who responded by suing both Interior Secretary Doug Burgum and the head of the National Park Service.
The mayor describes the federal judge's decision "as a major victory for the city."
