The preliminary assessment, made shortly after the storm, indicated ten million cubic meters of damaged forest.
90 percent of the damaged forest is located in Dalarna and Gävleborg counties.
For individual forest owners, "this is a disaster, a trauma," Fredrik Munter, CEO of the forest owners' association Mellanskog, told TT in January.
At the end of December, Storm Johannes swept across northern and central Sweden. It was followed shortly afterwards by Storm Anna, which worsened the situation.
Johannes was the fourth most destructive storm since records began in the early 1930s. During the worst storm, Gudrun, 75 million cubic meters of forest fell.
