"I've been to lunch with the other party leaders in the government's support group and it took a while, which is why I'm late," Åkesson says as he finally appears in the corridors of the Riksdag.
The party leaders discussed the so-called minimum level investigation, which, among other things, concerns converting permanent residence permits into temporary ones.
"That discussion dragged on for a while; we don't completely agree on what should be carried out in that investigation," says the SD leader.
It has been said that the Tidö parties will present a bill before the summer.
The party's group leader in the Riksdag, Linda Lindberg, was left alone to hold the press conference, which was about an expanded dental care reform, in Åkesson's absence.
