The doctor was fired at the end of 2021 after pointing out that he, and colleagues to him, had been subjected to systematic antisemitic harassment from a senior physician.

The case has been investigated both internally and externally and the Labor Court found that the doctor was dismissed without grounds.

The two parties have now reached an agreement that has been established by the Stockholm District Court. The settlement means that Karolinska will pay three million kronor in damages for the discrimination the doctor was subjected to, as well as for breach of the whistleblower law.

The dispute has cost Karolinska almost seven million kronor, as the hospital, in addition to the damages, also paid the court costs in the Labor Court.

In the settlement agreement, Karolinska writes that they regret the antisemitic harassment that the doctor has experienced during his employment at the hospital.
