Is it time for the Italian's first Grand Slam title? Her form doesn't seem to have any major flaws, at least.
Last week, Jasmine Paolini broke a 40-year curse when she became the first home player since 1985 to win the tournament in Rome. With that rehearsal behind her, she has started the French Championships with two straight wins, and now has eight consecutive wins on clay, including the Italian Open.
In the first round, she had to fight to beat Chinese Yuan Yue (2-1 in sets). In the second round, it was easier for the 29-year-old, who finished second in both the French Championships and Wimbledon last year.
Australian Ajla Tomljanovic did her best, but was defeated by the fourth-seeded Paolini in two straight sets, 3-6.
Paolini has many good memories from Stade Roland Garros. In addition to her final spot in the French Championships, she also won Olympic gold in doubles on the classic clay courts.
I like this court, I have fantastic memories from here and it's wonderful to be back in Paris with this crowd, says Paolini in the victory interview on Eurosport.
The reigning champion Iga Swiatek, Poland, is also through to the clay tournament. She beat out Emma Raducanu in two straight sets. The Briton only managed to win three games in the match, which was over in just over an hour.
Swiatek is going for her fourth straight title in Paris.
Chinese Zheng Qinwen, who won Olympic gold in singles in Paris, is also through to the third round. Zheng defeated Colombian Emiliana Arango with 6-2, 6-3.
