Abdirahman says the decision to close Järvaveckan at Spånga IP in northwest Stockholm was made at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday after part of the stage area closed earlier in the afternoon. The plan is for the political event to resume as scheduled at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

"As we have seen in recent days, the weather has not been in a good mood, to put it mildly, and we have experienced some major weather changes. We decided together with the police that the safety of our visitors and organizers is important," says Abdirahman.

Green Party spokesperson Amanda Lind and Liberal Party leader Simona Mohamsson were scheduled to speak at Järvaveckan on Wednesday evening. The two will instead speak later in the week, although it is unclear when, according to Abdirahman.

No one at Järvaveckan has been injured by the strong winds, as far as Abdirahman knows.
