Japan has begun its first investment in American projects under the massive investment fund it has promised, U.S. President Donald Trump said.

The $550 billion investment fund is part of the new trade agreement that the United States and Japan signed last year. The agreement means, among other things, that most Japanese goods imported into the United States will be subject to tariffs of 15 percent.

According to AFP, the first investment includes $36 billion - approximately SEK 323 billion - in a total of three infrastructure projects in the states of Texas, Ohio and Georgia.

"Today I am pleased to announce three huge projects in strategic oil and gas areas," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
