After seven years as the national team captain for the men's team, Janne Andersson left his post in November 2023.
It may have been his last assignment as a football coach.
I'm in that phase now where I have a lot of new things I can do. Then it might feel like the coaching job is something I'll abstain from, but we'll see.
He has previously described himself as "picky" when it comes to coaching requests – something that still stands.
I said no to a job last week. There have been many questions, some of which I said no to immediately. But in some cases, it has boiled down to concrete requests. But it's nothing that has felt right so far, and I've probably taken a pretty big step towards not being a coach.
I've had the world's best job, so if I'm going to take a new coaching job, it has to be very much in line.
"Can choose when I do it"
He hasn't shut out football completely, but consumes a lot of it. Mainly the men's Allsvenskan, where he thinks it was fun that Halmstad stayed up and that Andreas "Ante" Johansson has broken the record as the most capped player in the league.
He was well worth it. I told him once that if he were to extend his career, he would become a center-back, which I persuaded him to do. And now he's reached 445 matches. But I have 496, so he has a bit to go, says Andersson and laughs.
The 62-year-old says he's feeling great and that life is now lived "a bit slower".
I think it's a great expression and I'm comfortable with it. I'm a mentor to some and do some other things that I think are fun, and can choose when I do it, unlike before.
"Very few things went well"
Among other things, he participates in the new season of "Over the Atlantic" which premieres on Kanal 5 on February 4.
I hesitated for a long time before saying yes. But it was much harder than I thought.
He had counted on seasickness – but he means that very few things went well.
The boat devil was never still, but bounced and kept going, so I cracked a rib. Then it was hot and you were supposed to drink that fake water. So I struggled, but everyone on the boat was great.
It'll be exciting to see how they've put the program together, because I feel like I wasn't always the happiest on that boat.
Before the adventure, he had never sailed, and no new-found interest has he discovered.
I joked afterwards that I don't even want to see a sailboat on a postcard in the future.
