Jan Emanuel announces that the Folklistan is shutting down after the fiasco in the EU election.

I tried to change and it went wrong, he says in Almedalen in Visby.

But according to the party's press chief, the party will continue to exist.

The Folklistan as a larger movement is over, says Jan Emanuel.

He tried, together with Sara Skyttedal, who left the Christian Democrats, to make a major effort ahead of the EU election.

The party lasted for two months, but on June 9, it landed on 0.6 percent of the votes.

I thought that if you can get your message out in these two months, it would work, but since we got such a weak response, we "failed".

The party's press chief, Tim Sundblad, says, however, that the Folklistan will live on.

It's true what Jan Emanuel says, that the Folklistan as it has been until now is over. But it will continue in a new form, since we've seen such fantastic engagement and will continue to do so, says Tim Sundblad, press chief.

According to information to TT, a new top candidate will take over the party and the brand, which is now owned by Jan Emanuel. It is Johan Nissinen, former Sweden Democrat and EU parliamentarian, who is mentioned as the new top name.

We haven't decided anything about that. We'll get back to that when the new plan is set, says Johan Nissinen himself when TT asks him about the information.

Sara Skyttedal has not yet received any information about her future.

I think I need some time to process what happened in my previous party before I land in some form of future engagement, she says to SVT News.

Nice to stir things up

Jan Emanuel notes that he made a very poor economic investment, but that it was fun to stir things up a bit.

Now he's thinking of joining the Social Democrats again, a party he previously was a member of, among other things, as a member of parliament.

It was just a timeout, says Jan Emanuel to TT about the pause from S.

S welcomes

Tobias Baudin, the Social Democrats' party secretary, welcomes Jan Emanuel's desire to become a member of the party again, but has not had any contact with him.

I always think it's fun when people want to become members of our party. Of course, as a member, you can't be active or a member of other parties. But also follow our made decisions. That applies to all members – Jan Emanuel like everyone else.

Do you think Jan Emanuel would have a future as a politician within S?

All trust begins locally, and that's why you also submit your application to join the party locally. It's democracy that decides who will be our representatives.
