Kristoffer Jakobsen kicked off the World Championship season by finishing eleventh in Finnish Levi – the following weekend, he secured the fourth podium of his career when he finished second after a brilliant second run.
Since then, things have been tougher for the 30-year-old. On Monday, the World Cup competition in Italian Alta Badia ended already in the first run, as he skied out. It was the second competition in a row that ended just like that for the Swede.
In the slalom competition in French Val d'Isère just over a week ago, it was the same story, with a gate fault in the first run.
Norwegian Timon Haugan had the lead in Alta Badia after an extremely strong first run, and he maintained that position when it all came down to the wire. He won the competition with a 1.13-second margin ahead of Loic Meillard, Switzerland. Atle Lie McGrath, Norway, finished third.
For Sweden, Fabian Ax Swartz was the only one to make it to the second run. There, he improved from a shared 16th place to eleventh – his best World Cup placement in his career.
