Jacob Kiplimo loses half-marathon world record. The Ugandan, who broke the record by 48 seconds in Barcelona a year ago, is believed to have received unauthorized assistance, Runner's World reports.

According to the website, World Athletics has assessed that the 25-year-old ran too close to the lead car, thereby reducing air resistance. In addition, Kiplimo is said to have received instructions from his coach during the race, which is not allowed.

Kiplimo ran 56 minutes 42 seconds.

Yomif Kejelcha of Ethiopia thus regains the world record of 57 minutes 30 seconds, which he set in October 2024.
