The Inspection for Healthcare and Welfare (Ivo) is initiating an examination of a cardiologist who incorrectly declared nearly 80 children healthy, reports P4 Jönköping.
Ivo will partly investigate the doctor, partly Region Jönköping and Region Skåne, where the doctor now works, but is temporarily suspended from meeting patients.
The misdiagnoses were discovered when the medical records of some of the doctor's patients at Länssjukhuset Ryhov in Jönköping were reviewed. 78 previously declared healthy children were found to need a new examination, of which six needed to be operated on.
