The Inspection for Care and Services (Ivo) has since September last year decided on prohibition or withdrawn permits for 24 HVB-homes and 5 support accommodations for children and young people.

According to Ivo, the deficiencies have concerned immediate danger to the lives and health of children and young people, unsuitable owners or management, as well as inadequate register checks of staff. The agency also states that "several steps have been taken in the work against unscrupulous and criminal actors".

"When we see serious deficiencies or unsuitable actors, we act forcefully. The safety and security of children must always come first", says Anna Karin Nyqvist, unit manager at Ivo, in a press release.

So far this year, nearly 90 operations have been found to have deficiencies. The majority were so serious that they need to report back to Ivo.
