The Israeli military carried out raids on 300 locations in the West Bank in the past 24 hours, on Saturday. Katz is now open to more raids.

Similar measures are being considered, he said, according to The Times of Israel.

Settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank is escalating. Several officers in the Israeli military are urging settlers to remain calm. They want the government to tighten the legal process for settler groups that organise acts of violence against Palestinian villages, reports the newspaper Haaretz.

Opposition politician Yair Golan criticises Katz and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's handling of the West Bank.

Golan accuses them of turning the West Bank into an election issue and "an arena of violence that threatens human life."

On Friday, four Palestinians and two Israelis were killed in the town of Tell.
