In the major offensive that began in the Gaza Strip in May, Israel's military has made "every mistake imaginable". This is quoted by Israeli media from an internal army report.

The offensive, called Gideon's triumphal wagons, "went against the army's own military doctrine", among other things by allowing Hamas to strengthen its resources through looting and by Israel tiring and exhausting its own forces while the international support that existed weakened. This according to the internal and secret evaluation that the TV channel Keshet 12 has come across.

The operation has been going on for several months, but is now considered to show that Israel's forces are poorly prepared for the "guerrilla warfare" that it means to send soldiers into Gaza's cities.

This in turn raises questions about what prospects the next planned offensive, with the aim of completely capturing Gaza City, has to succeed, writes The Times of Israel.

The military responds that the report "is spread without permission or clearance from the relevant authorities" and that the leak is being investigated.
