Israel has attacked targets in southern Lebanon in several rounds after urging residents to evacuate

The attacks on Sunday were aimed at the Islamist movement Hezbollah's "infrastructure," according to the Israeli military, quoted by the Haaretz newspaper. According to Israel, the attacks were "a response to Hezbollah's continuous violations" of the ceasefire agreement.

On Sunday afternoon, the military announced that new airstrikes were expected against the town of Kafr Hatta, which is located north of the Litani River.

The evacuation call came from Israeli military spokesman Avichay Adraee and was announced in Arabic on X.

Shortly afterwards, the area was attacked, according to Lebanon's state news agency NNA. "Enemy aircraft carried out over ten raids on the designated location," NNA reported, noting extensive material damage.

A formal ceasefire between Israel and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah movement began on November 27, 2024. Since then, Israel has continuously attacked targets reported to belong to Hezbollah, mainly in southern Lebanon.

The ceasefire agreement includes demands that Hezbollah be completely disarmed and that the Lebanese military take over control of, among other things, southern Lebanon.
