The raids on al-Kiswah outside Damascus are reported to have been repeated on several occasions; in a first attack in al-Kiswah on Tuesday, six Syrian soldiers were killed according to the Foreign Ministry.
This is the first time that the Israeli military has attacked targets so deep in Syria since the Bashar al-Assad regime fell in December last year.
Additionally, a raid with a commando helicopter against a suspected base southwest of Damascus was reported on Thursday.
The British-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory reports that the base housed weapons belonging to the Iran-backed Lebanese militia group Hizbollah.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that talks are underway with the Syrian regime about a demilitarization of southern Syria, partly to protect the vulnerable Druze population in the region.
This is the first time that the Israeli government has had direct contact with the Islamist government in Damascus.
